Still alive, Born again, and The ultimate dream car
Here at RestoMod Guys Garage, we specialize in performing all the necessary tasks to make your vehicle project turn out it’s best. We believe the first step in creating a successful build is to have an in-depth conversation with our clients during the first visual inspection. We discuss the history of the vehicle and the goals they have in mind for a finished product and provide the best estimate of time and costs.
Our goal is to fix every issue we come across without missing anything. And yes, even the imperfections those factory installers were not given the time to correct. Best effort is what we give in attempt to provide the greatest results possible without doing things twice; we strive to complete each phase before moving to the next. The plan of completion is comprised of a few different phases: The initial phase, the metal fabrication phase, the plastics phase, and the final assembly phase. During the phases, we keep our clients up-to-date through messages and digital images.
We start every project by disassembling the vehicle 100% making sure to bag, tag, categorize all parts. This is the perfect time to identify and document every missing and broken part. Sandblasting is done to remove all paint and coatings, and to reveal the true extent of the work that needs to performed include rust and body decay. A full assessment on any potential rust repair and metal fabrication is documented as is needed to inform clients of the assessment and to create our plan of completion. This is when we start ordering replacement panels and parts, metals for fabrication, assembly hardware, and all repair and paint material needed for the project.
In this phase, we correct dents and metal rot by using cutting and welding techniques. We perform any metal fabrication and customization to create the best look, which includes correct all factory defects, and align and adjust all panels. We will also replace hood, door, and trunk hinges at this point. After panels are aligned we may need to correct panel gaps by performing more cutting and welding techniques. Now it's time to install all desired suspension components, and the upgraded motor and transmission to confirm correct fitment and functionality. At this moment it is necessary to modify the firewall, floor, and trunk of the body as needed. Specialized wheels and tires should be selected and installed at this time. Consider things that need to be chromed, trimmed, and upholstered at this time. This is also the best time to discuss the possibility of changes that will effect the time and cost of the project.
Now is when we apply the least amounts of plastic fillers to all the welded and metal finished areas. This is used to perfect the look of all the work performed up to this point. We use seam sealers and primers for those intricate details before applying paint finishes and clear coat. After the correct amount of drying time is achieved, it is time to polish all painted surfaces.
Time and care at this point is very important as we do not want to damage anything. CAREFULLY putting it all back together is essential to achieving the best results. Once completed, we deliver the product to our new family members.
